Explore mazes with dazzling illusions and themes designed to tease your brain.

Still running until September 5, “Egypt: Time of the Pharaohs” presents a look at one of the most influential societies of the ancient world. Explore artifacts, artwork, and interactive installations to learn more about the public, private, and secret lives of Ancient Egyptians.

Two stunning films are also playing this month at the Phipps IMAX Theater. Wings Over Water, narrated by Michael Keaton, documents the lifestyles and behaviors of three bird species, the Sandhill Crane, the Yellow Warbler, and the Mallard Duck, as they migrate over beautiful landscapes to raise their young. For the dinosaur nerds, Dinosaurs of Antarctica presents a fascinating look at the vastly different landscape of Gondwana and the bizarre creatures that occupied this ancient continent.

Next month, some great in-person events are coming to the museum. On June 7, New York Times bestselling author and science writer Wendy Williams presents her new book, The Language of Butterflies: How Thieves, Hoarders, Scientists, and Other Obsessives Unlocked the Secrets of the World’s Favorite Insect. She will be discussing how butterflies play an important role in our ecosystem and how scientists are creating lifesaving technologies by studying these amazing creatures. She will also sell and sign copies of her book after the presentation.

The following evening, June 8, there will be a screening in the Phipps IMAX Theater of the new film, Night Raiders, an Indigenous dystopian thriller by director Danis Goulet. The film is a women-driven story about an oppressive regime which reflects the struggles of Indigenous peoples, in Cree and English with English subtitles. Goulet will Zoom in for a live discussion after the film. June 29 in the Ricketson Auditorium, be sure to come check out 60 Minutes In Space, where you can learn about the latest news about space exploration and new discoveries in astronomy.

As usual, the museum is also hosting some great virtual events, which you can find more out about here. For tickets and more information for upcoming events, be sure to check out their website.
