Jan Sport On “Junestasy,” Pride, and Spreading Love

Without giving any away too much, what can audiences expect from your upcoming performance at the “Junetasy” Pride Drag Show?

I’ll say this! Regardless of any experience you will see Jan at, it is going to be a FUN evening! My main goal of anytime I go on stage is to make sure everyone is having fun.

For you, what is the most important aspect of Pride month?

Pride is truly about being seen for exactly who we are as a queer community.

What does Pride mean to you?

Pride means I am taking up space and showing the world exactly who I am.

With more and more anti-LGBTQ+ laws/policies popping up across the country, what are your thoughts on the importance of drag/Pride/celebration this year?

Pride this year and every year is more and more important. In our growing climate of ignorance and hatred, being the loving and supportive community that we are, it’s important to show everyone … including hatred within our own community. Let’s lift each other up and show the haters how much love we have to give.

What advice or thoughts do you have for young queer folks struggling this Pride?

For any of the angels who are struggling with understanding how fierce they are and how LOVED they are, I need you to know that even though it may not feel like it and you may feel alone, you have a VIBRANT community waiting to embrace and accept you with open arms. There’s a place for everyone in the queer community, and celebrating that space and reminding anyone in a dark place that that space DOES exist, is why I love Pride so much.

What are your personal plans for Pride?

My personal plans for Pride are to go around the country and spreading love to all of the queer community. We need that now more than ever! I truly encourage you to come to our show if you are feeling sad. I want to make you feel happy and loved!

What are some other upcoming events that your fans can look out for this Pride?

My dear friend Jackie Cox and I are headed around the country to perform our next big show “Gaycation”! I’ll be singing the National Anthem at the NY/NJ Gotham FC soccer game, and I’ll be performing all around New York City almost every other day! COME THRU!!!
