Youth on Record Celebrates 8th Annual Block Party
It’s that time of year again! Youth on Record is throwing their annual block party this weekend. Youth on Record’s foundation is to help youth harness their personal power and feel free through music, community, and education despite the marginalizing systems and circumstances that disempower them. Their annual block party is a great representation of what Youth on Record is about. Their block party is an event designed by youth for the youth and with youth leadership at its core.
The eighth annual block party is jam-packed with a lot of cool performances, workshops, and special treats for youth, community members, and anyone that would like to attend. This Saturday, June 11, Youth on Record students will be performing the entire event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Youth on Record studio and nearby streets.
The block party is a family-friendly event filled with art and crafting opportunities whether it be the Art Making workshop with Beats by Girlz, listening to the Youth on Record podcast in their student listening rooms, face painting provided by sponsor Meow Wolf, a cooking class from Mama JAH, and so much more. If health and wellness are more your style, there will be a health and wellness workshop as well as yoga and meditation through Better Buzz Yoga.
The University of Colorado Denver College of the Arts & Media, a block party sponsor, will be providing a career advancement panel, and the Denver Housing Authority will also be providing free meal vouchers for those in the Mariposa neighborhood. There will also be plenty of opportunities for free treats, such as snacks and t-shirts designed by Youth on Record’s fellowship graduate known as Dead Boyfriend.
Youth on Record has a lot of fun in store for this weekend’s block party. Head over to their studio on June 11, and enjoy the completely free event. For more on the block party visit their website and to stay in the loop on any future events follow @youthonrecord on social media.
