Transgender Woman Murdered in Texas
It’s been a sad 48 hours in the state of Texas.
Yesterday (January 26) a trans woman was shot and killed. The police were informed when a woman called early Monday morning to say a car hit a telephone pole and her children heard gunshots.
Police arrived to find Ty Underwood, a 24-year-old training to be a nurse, was murdered in the city of Tyler, just around 90 miles southeast of Dallas.
Detective Andy Erbaugh said he currently does not have anything substantial enough to lead to any arrests and have yet to determine a clear motive, but they believe she was targeted for being transgender.
‘We will follow any leads that come in, we will follow them completely because this was a senseless murder,’ he said, CBS 19 reports.
The county is offering a $1,000 reward for a tip that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspect. Call Tyler Police Department at (903) 531-1000 or Tyler-Smith County Crime Stoppers at (903) 597-2833 if you know anything.
