Taylor Swift Announces Political Views

Taylor Swift has officially shared her political views after some debate among fans. This started when AI-generated images of “Swifties for Trump” and an AI-generated Uncle Sam style poster were shared by Trump on Truth Social. Swift said nothing at first, leaving some fans quite confused. Did the popstar’s beliefs change? Or was she being silent as a PR move?

Later, Swift was seen hugging Brittany Mahomes, wife of Patrick Mahomes, at a Kansas City Chiefs game. At a game prior to this, they sat in separate suites and did not interact. The hug and seeming friendship between the women was somewhat damning for Swift.

Brittany Mahomes was recently flamed for liking an Instagram post by Trump. The post detailed how his presidency would increase the detention and deportation rate, “keep men out of women’s sports,” and would cut funding for schools attempting to teach on critical race theory, gender ideology, and “other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content.” She has since un-liked the post, but couldn’t help firing back on her Instagram story. Mahomes states, “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

Since then, Trump has also touted Mahomes as his new it-girl. Even after the AI generated images and proclaimed love of Swift’s music, he dropped her, stating, “Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you wanna know the truth; she’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.” He said this on an interview with Fox & Friends. This came after a late-night Instagram post by Swift which explicitly endorsed presidential running mates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

She made the post after the presidential debate on September 10. In her post, she talks about how vital this election is, and clarifies that the AI-generated images were false. She also states, “it brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

Many fans were relieved by this, especially after the hug with Mahomes. Swift has touted her allyship to the LGBTQ+ community for years. To know she is continuing that support a candidate who doesn’t harbor queer hate is important to many of her fans.
