Explosions in the Sky gave Boulder Theater audience sonic reverb, symphonic melodies

The April 5 show at the Boulder Theater was no exception. Tlast night’s show at the Boulder Theater was no exception. The audience was pinned to the floor by these rock mini-symphonies, being pushed and pulled by the weight of the band’s reverb and heavy distortion, coming close to the head-crushing level of sonic power of My Bloody Valentine, then dipping down into beautiful, delicate instrumentation reminiscent of Sigur Ros.

Rock Ballets give dance performance a new beat at Ballet Nouveau Colorado

The Rock Ballets show April 13 – 15 at the Performing Arts Complex at Pinnacle Charter School. Director and choreographer Garrett Ammon said, “Every ballet is a different beast. But I’m a very music driven choreographer.” And this particular ballet is what Ammon hopes will be “a visual experience akin to a graphic novel come to life.”
