Thank Your Lucky Starz

This year’s lineup for the Starz Film Fest dazzles

Annabelle

Is Annabelle really worth the hype?

Wetlands: Not for the faint of sensibilities

The German film “Wetlands” revolves around Helen, who is 18, sexy, tomboyish, and very aware of her hemorrhoid-ridden body.

Pride

A feel-good film, “Pride” chronicles the efforts of an LBGT group to raise money to support striking Welsh miners in 1984.

Lilting

Writer and director Hong Khaou’s feature film “Lilting” is simple, tender, and touching. Reviewing it is an exercise in restraint

Love is Strange

Out director/co-writer Ira Sachs’ thoughtful, wistful film, “Love is Strange,” concerns a couple — George (Alfred Molina) and Ben (John Lithgow) — who have been together 39 years.

Cinema Q Film Festival

The Denver Film Society celebrated queer cinema with the 6th Annual Cinema Q Film Festival at the Sie FilmCenter July 24 – 27. This year’s festival presented films that covered every aspect of the LGBTQ community. It introduced new visionaries, paid tribute to iconic staples, told stories from around the world, and connected viewers with a common message of identity and understanding.
