The feminist movement would never have been what is has without the engagement of queer and lesbian women, said Elisabeth Long, of Denver.
When I moved to Colorado two years ago, I sought opportunities that I couldn’t find in the South. Being raised in Georgia, I found it difficult to find an identity. After I graduated from college in 2009, I was unable to secure gainful employment. I moved to Colorado, thinking a change in environment would do me good.
But still others are simply immersed in the Western culture, three parts cowboy to one part gay, and by birth or through long-held commitment have rodeo in their veins.

Whether it’s Da Vinci and Michelangelo expressing homoeroticism through religious paintings, or Robert Mapplethorpe forcing the public to define their fears, art has always been the canal of human expression for all things wonderful and horrible, sex being the river that flows through it.
Remember, I am so old that I can remember when we snuck into the three gay bars in Denver. Back then we would never have thought of a PrideFest attended by 300,000; much less likely than going to the moon.
