bars & drinks
While we have all try our best to avoid some of the more negative side effects of drinking (weight gain, drunk dialing, sudden Vegas weddings), no one wants to be the only sober person in the bar sipping a coke and awkwardly doing the white-man shuffle. Luckily, one does not have to succumb to this humiliation to stay healthy and while at the club. These three tips from Keith Moore at Pura Vida Fitness and Spa can help you enjoy your night out and your next day, clear minded and hangover free.
These are my aphrodisiacs. The word itself, named for the Greek goddess of all things sexy, Aphrodite, dances off the tongue and makes you go, ooh la la. Aphrodisiacs are meant to increase sexual arousal and pleasure, and praise be to Aphrodite, their list is long.
For me, the story begins with a bottle of wine
Wine is the drink most often paired with a meal. Wine helps food to strut its stuff – and vice versa – but there are other, often overlooked, cocktails of equal importance and just as much lovability. That’s right – I’m talking about the before and the after cocktails, also known as apéritifs and digestifs.
Summer is the ideal time of year for fans of cocktails. Warm weather, pride parties and sunshine just call out for the refreshing respite of a cool, mixed drink. Whether you prefer spirits or wine, fruity or minty, sweet or sour (or both), up, on the rocks, shaken, or stirred, the thought conjures images of patio sipping.
There’s a sense of renewal and freshness – of coming back to life after the long cold season of snow and ice. The season’s wines are crisp, floral whites, light vibrant reds, and of course, the rosés. Many of my favorite variations are French wines from Gascony and Provence where the uber Rosé Tempier Bandol has its roots.
