Sound Up! Pabllo Vittar
Intersectionality, accessibility, and squashing the sexist, patriarchal norms through queer…
Brazilian queen Pabllo Vittar has released a new single, and this track and music video are absolute fire. If this pop star isn’t on your radar yet, the song “Rajadão” will absolutely sink it’s teeth into you and have you asking for more.
Making waves since 2014, Vittar has been given the crown of hopeful progression as she stood for resistance against the oppressive country in which she was born and raised. While Brazil is considered to be the most LGBTQ friendly and advanced in Latin America when it comes to rights and protections for queer folks, the community continues to face social injustices and inequities.
Taking no vacation from her role in activism, Vittar has taken to empowering folks through the new song “Rajadão.” Sung in her native language of Portuguese, the song exudes strength and endurance all while embracing a beauty that is undeniable in her distinctive and exquisite vocals. Mixing genres of pop, Latinx influence, electronic, and dance music, she has embraced her foundation and is creating a new sound of her next evolution.

The song speaks of victory, healing, power, and strength, and reminds us that we will rise above adversity. Truly a message, an anthem rather, which we can all need to hear and be reminded of.
Vittar is likely the most well-known known drag queen in the world, and having amassed more than 10.7 million followers on Instagram alone, it’s hits like “Rajadão” that will keep her fan base satiated and on a continuous path upward.
“I think the coolest thing about my career is the messages I get on social media, people saying that they are happier, that my music helped them get through hardships, or I’ve helped them feel good about themselves,” Vittar told Vogue in 2018. “It makes me really happy. This is what makes my job worth it, it’s to change other people’s lives, or else it wouldn’t be worth it. Sure, it is a fun job, but at the end of the day, this is the coolest part.”

The music video for the new single debuted only two weeks ago and already has more than 5 million views, and with a dedicated, active, and loyal audience, it’s safe to say that her reign as the most famous drag queen in the world remains solid.
“Os Americanos que aguardem a Drag Queen brasileira invadindo seu território com os seus talentos/ Americans waiting for the Brazilian Drag Queen to invade their territory with their talents,” says one YouTube comment.
Now, it’s time to turn that sound up and immerse yourself in “Rajadão.”
