Simone Biles Slams Riley Gaines for Denouncing Trans Athlete
Simone Biles, a 28-year-old, seven-time Olympic gold medallist, went toe-to-toe with former U.S. NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines for denouncing a trans athlete who was a player in the softball state championship of 2025.
Gaines quoted the post making fun of the fact one of the athletes was trans: “Comments off lol To be expected when your star player is a boy.”
Simone Biles responded to Gaines’s post, saying, “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”
Biles called Gaines a sore loser in reference to Gaines being a former competitive swimmer and tying for fifth place with a trans swimmer Lia Thomas in 2022 during the NCAA Championship. Biles then went on to make another post directed at Gaines— “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”
Gaines fired back with a post saying, “This is so disappointing. My take is the least controversial take on the planet. Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams? Didn’t have that on my bingo card. Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028″ then adding “And the subtle hint at ‘body-shaming’ ???? Plzzzz I’m 5’5.”
This isn’t the first time Biles has stood up for the LGTBQ+ community on anti-LGBTQ+ topics, saying that the anti-LGTBQ+ law in Uganda giving a life sentence to anyone identifying as a homosexual “for life….. that’s a lil absurd love is love. y’all be fighting for the wrong things !!!”
