RiNo Art District Unveils Artwork from the 2024 ‘NO VACANCY’ Residency

On Saturday, October 5 from 5:00-10:00 p.m., RiNo Art District will be unveiling and presenting the work of 11 artists that were completed throughout their residency. The free exhibition is titled NO VACANCY 2024 with two vacant warehouses on Walnut (3911 and 3925) transformed by artists’ art installations.

To make this possible, RiNo Art District has published with Uplands Real Estate Partners who donated the warehouses for use and are currently planning for new development of the site. “This is the epicenter for arts and creativity in Denver, and the ‘NO VACANCY’ program exemplifies the spirit of the neighborhood,” says Mike Fietkiewicz with Uplands Real Estate Partners. “As developers with a long-term commitment to the vitality of this community, we are thrilled to partner with RiNo Art District to help ensure RiNo remains a place where art is made.”

This is RiNo’s third iteration of the NO VACANCY residency program. Since August 2024, each artist was given $5,000 to create art pieces and completely transform the space with immersive art installations. Since both spaces are slated for future demolition, artists are given virtually unlimited creative freedom to push their craft and breathe new life into the buildings. Ayle Sharp, executive director of RiNo Art District, says, “’NO VACANCY’ is an example of the power of collaboration and creative experimentation, embodying the dynamic spirit of the RiNo Art District and showcasing what happens when art, community, and property owners come together.”

Featured Artists Include: Kate MajorDmitri ObergfellLauren Young x Ariana BarnstableEren YazzieMarcus MoodyAndy DiLalloSaxon MartinezMaryVCeli Torres, and Nadiya Jackson. Styles of work range from mixing Lauren’s retro “desert disco” style with Ariana’s “lazy cowboy,” to Kate’s experience making monsters at Meow Wolf, to Marcus’ integration of music and performance, to Eren’s use of multimedia to investigate how humans and non-humans understand the world. The RiNo Arts District has chosen a wide range of artists to represent overall artistic diversity with creative uses of multimedia and representation ranging from BIPOC to LGBTQIA artists.

The opening celebration is free to attend and will have music by DJ Terry Rose, food from BrewDog and Mecha, and a fabulous bar with drinks including Ratio Beerworks, Best Day Brewing, and more!
