Pandora Boxx Set to Release New Album BOXX

RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Pandora Boxx has announced her new album, BOXX, releasing on July 15. 

Pandora Boxx was featured on the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she placed fifth. Boxx would later return in All Stars in the first and sixth seasons of the show, before going on to star in all three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag U.

Boxx says her leading single “Dance” is inspired by her childhood and the musicians that she would listen to as a young child while struggling with bullying at school and a difficult home life. Among these musicians include Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and Boy George.

“Dance is a song for everyone. It encourages people not to pay any mind to what others think and to dance like no one is watching,” Boxx says in a press release for the forthcoming album.

A range of musical styles are represented in BOXX, with “Pill” being rock-based and “Stars” channeling Carol Channing—which will remind Drag Race fans of Boxx’s impersonation of the Broadway singer in Season 2.

Despite her last albums being more on the raunchy side, BOXX is strictly PG, dance-y fun. 

“I think healing yourself can make your mind more open to create better artistry. I try to be more thankful of opportunities I have enjoyed and not focus on what other people have. This album has been a journey, and I’m excited for people to listen to it,” says Boxx of the creative process and inner work that went into BOXX.

The album has a continuing theme of childhood, escapism, self-expression, and the freedom to be yourself in the face of adversity. “I’m dedicating this album to anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong. For all those weirdos like me, who buck the norm and are true to themselves,” Boxx says.

Boxx will be dropping an official “Dance” music video on her YouTube channel on the same day as BOXX releases.

BOXX will be available to stream on all platforms on July 15.
