One Colorado PAC Releases 2024 Election Endorsements
One Colorado Political Action Committee (PAC) recently released their candidate endorsements for the upcoming November 2024 election. Their candidates each passed an assessment of their values, and how their policies will align with LGBTQ+ rights during their terms.
The upcoming election is already frightening for many people, especially queer people. It is vital to get to the polls and vote, especially to secure the rights of the states. In Colorado, many important issues will be on the ballot, two of which are Amendment J, which would secure marriage equality rights in Colorado, and Amendment 79, which would constitutionally and permanently protect abortion rights in the state. The candidates endorsed by One Colorado are committed to these causes and many more.
Stephanie Vigil, an LGBTQ+ Caucus Member states, “LGBTQ+ Coloradans deserve the freedom to live their own lives free of oppression by the state or targeted attacks of violence or discrimination. It’s a matter of safeguarding our rights to privacy, due process, and self-determination. I am honored to defend the rights and freedom of the LGBTQ+ community – especially given that I am the only queer legislator in El Paso County. Voting for pro-equality candidates will allow us to ensure Colorado stays a place where our LGBTQ+ community can thrive.”
For a complete list of candidates, please visit One Colorado’s endorsement page. A few of their candidates are openly LGBTQ+, which will help to bring a fresh perspective to the House and Senate. Some of their names are Vivian Smotherman, Sonya Jaquez Lewis, Alex Valdez, Stephanie Vigil, Brianna Titone, and Chad Clifford. Be sure to look out for them on the ballots this November. Ballots are sent out on October 11th, and as long as they are returned before November 5th, your vote for a better, safer and more queer-friendly Colorado will be counted.
