Obama Administration announces action against Anti-LGBT laws in Uganda

An imposition against Ugandan individuals seeking visas has been issued for officials involved in LGBT discrimination violating human rights abuses and corruption. An aviation exercise has also been cancelled.

President Obama had warned Uganda that their establishment of the Anti-Homosexuality Act would cause strain on US/Ugandan relations, but in no way should this be construed as a complete falling out. According to NSC Spokesperson Caitlin Hayden, the United States remains committed “to providing development and humanitarian support for the Ugandan people, or our partnership with the Ugandan government to counter the murderous Lord’s Resistance Army and improve security in Africa.”

The White House has released a blog post regarding these measures which can be found here.
