It was a summer afternoon filled with resistance, pride, and a whole lot of heart. On June 14, Denver showed up in force for the No Kings Protest, filling Civic Center Park and beyond with thousands of voices united in one goal: a future built on equality, not control.

I walked the entire march. I wove through the crowd. And what struck me most was the feeling, not of rage or fear, but of calm strength. The protest was peaceful and positive, and somehow, even with how heavy the issues were, it left me feeling lighter.

I’ve been to a lot of protests, but this one was different. For how big it was and how much weight it carried, the whole thing felt cathartic. Uplifting, even. It was a reminder that when we show up together, we’re stronger than anything that tries to divide us. Even when that’s hard to believe.

One of the most unforgettable moments came from ColoradoCaptain, who showed up in full Captain America cosplay despite the heat. Watching Captain America wave a trans flag in front of the Colorado State Capitol was transcendent, to say the least. It was surreal, powerful, and emotional, a living symbol of solidarity.

I’m proud of Denver. We made space; we held it, and we filled it with love and intention.
