My Body, My Voice Performed by Denver Women’s Chorus

It is a terrifying time to be alive. With the overturn of Roe v. Wade, many rights have been stripped away, and many healthcare options have been removed from those who absolutely need them. That is why My Body, My Voice, a concert performed by the Denver Women’s Chorus, is showing from November 4 to 6 in solidarity with reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.

My Body, My Voice came into creation following the overturn of Roe v. Wade. It is a rallying cry of protest and outrage against the system that would rather watch women and afab individuals die than help them. The concert will have exalting songs from artists such as Brandi Carlile, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, and composers Andrea Ramsey and Melissa Dunphy.

The Denver Women’s Chorus has partnered with COLOR, or the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights, to bring us this concert. COLOR, a people of color-led organization, focuses on the advancement of reproductive justice and acknowledges that not one person leads a single-issue life.

América Ramierez, COLOR’s program director, said, “COLOR is thrilled and honored to partner with Denver Women’s Chorus on the My Body, My Voice concert series. We are excited about this partnership, which will share the beauty of song, an art form that reminds us that our voice is our power. Reproductive justice is when we center the stories and experiences of the most marginalized and where our communities lead the work towards our collective liberation. This means working towards a world where everyone can access all the resources they need to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives with dignity and respect.”

My Body, My Voice will be performed from November 4-5 at Denver’s Central Presbyterian Church, and November 6 at Broomfield Auditorium. For more information and ticket purchasing, visit the Denver Choruses website here.
