OFM had the pleasure of attending Carved Impressions exhibition at Access Gallery on March 16: “Love is love; not what’s between your legs” by Enchanted Dichotomy.

Enchanted Dichotomy is a genderqueer mixed media artist who enjoys learning new styles of art whenever possible. They have been working with Access Gallery since 2020, and this is their first printmaking project.

Enchanted Dichotomy says, “Making art is what makes me feel alive and is my form of communication … rt is my voice,
my nonverbal cue to let my thoughts be okay and my mind settle.”

Enchanted Dichotomy created this work to get closer to accepting who they are in their body. The work explores gender and includes male, female, nonbinary, and intersex representation. Prints were created primarily from linoleum carvings using
various coloured ink prints in different sizes from several linocuts. Print articles are also included which discuss facts regarding gender and pronouns.

Seeing Carved Impressions in person was such a beautiful and welcoming experience. We’ll leave you with this quote: “As a nonbinary person navigating the world, I find that many people of many generations and backgrounds have different thoughts and opinions on gender and pronoun usage. I feel there is alway an opportunity to express our own
thoughts and experiences through art as communication.”
