Just Watch: Vance Joy’s Music Video “Georgia”

On the surface, Vance Joy’s single “Georgia,” is a about a woman he’s loved and lost. If you’ve only heard the song, you would indeed be correct. BUT…now there’s a video, and the video suddenly makes this song a little different.

We begin with a battalion of soldiers in the midst of a deadly battle during some unspecified war. There is a moment of peace as they start to plot their next move, but in a flash they are running for cover in the throngs of explosions. At one point, two soldiers are ambushed, and one of them is seriously wounded.

When the brothers-in-arms realize he won’t make it, the scene takes a surprising turn—a kiss. And that’s when we realized there might be some backstory missing.
