Governor Polis Hands Out One-Millionth Book by Dolly Parton

Colorado governor Jared Polis, joined by other Colorado representatives, has just handed out The One Millionth Book from Colorado’s imaginary library. The library, which was jumpstarted by Dolly Parton in 1995, expanded into Colorado four years ago with the goal of initiating a love for books to children who are 5 years old and younger. These books are free of charge and are funded through local community partners.

Parton, is just a gift that keeps on giving. Not only does she release killer songs that shake the country music genre to its core, but she also has a love and care for children, wanting all children to have access to reading and getting to develop a love for it as well.

Polis was over the moon, describing how this program has brought so much joy to children across Colorado and helped them grow as readers. He proceeded to thank Parton for this program that has continued to build success.

In July of 2020, The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was created under law Sb20-185 which was signed by governor Polis himself. This program was supported by senators Jeff Bridges and Jack Tate and representatives Kerry Tipper and James wilson. The library comes with 30 programs that support all 64 counties in Colorado, meaning no city in the state will be left out from this incredible opportunity.

Recently, Polis signed law HB24-1205 which transfers the library from the Colorado Department of Education to the Colorado Department of Early-Childhood Education, allowing the library to partner up with eligible organizations to bring in more books and expand the program even further.

This law brings in a very big opportunity to parents who are wanting to give their kids a head start in their education. Reading is so important, and many children unfortunately do not have access to a form of reading earlier than when their general education starts. Parton is a miracle in helping kids explore their love through reading.
