Fluid: Where Entertainment Meets Fashion
Looking for a show that celebrates and highlights the intersectionality of LGBTQ identities and fashion? Look no further than Fluid – A Pride Fashion Show presented by Ellie Cat.
“Fashion doesn’t have a gender; you should wear what makes you feel best in. What makes you feel most comfortable in.” says Ellie, founder and designer at Ellie Cat Styles “As a feminine-presenting, queer, nonbinary person; walking in other fashion shows I was always put in very feminine clothing, which don’t get me wrong. But if you think about it, what about those who don’t present like I do? Where are the pieces for them to model? I wanted to make something for us… So, I did.”
Ellie Cat Styles is a new company and hasn’t opened its doors yet; in fact, this is Ellie’s collection debut as well as an announcement for the launch of her business, coming in August. Ellie Cat Styles focuses on fashion and styling for all, recreating what you have or helping you find something new to be your most authentic self.
The show will take place on Wednesday, June 29 at the Marijuana Mansion, Denver, from 7-10 p.m., featuring designers Ellie Cat Styles, Chi Marie Fashion, Via Moscato, and Melissa An. The event also features Blush Burlesque Dance Team and DJ Buddy Bravo.
Presale tickets are available on Eventbrite, and tickets will also be available at the door.
Diversifying the lines of all humans offers a new way for the community and our allies to look at fashion. Clothing has been used, and continues to be used, by the LGBTQ community as a way of self-expression, and it often reflects the realistic gender-nonconformity that can be found in the world today. The LGBTQ community must see themselves represented, which is why it is important to have shows and events which feature and highlight realistic and authentic gender expression, and the fluidity of fashion.
