Elon Musk Moving X Headquarters After California Passed Anti-Trans Student Law

A few conservative extremists, including billionaire Elon Musk, expressed shock when California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the new law protecting the privacy rights of trans students. Just after the law’s passage, Musk confirmed his decision to relocate X headquarters from California to Texas.

The Support Academic Future and Educators for Today’s Youth Act (SAFETY Act) law claims protection for trans students and the right to privacy, such as forbidding teachers from outing or exposing trans students to their families.

Only a few hours later, the next day, Musk wrote on X that this law being passed was the “final straw” and that “because of this law and the many others that preceded it,” X would relocate to Austin, TX, and SpaceX’s headquarters would be moved to Brownsville, TX, where Musk’s current “Starbase” industrial complex is located.

He continued his absurd input on the law being passed and said that the law would mean “massive destruction of parental rights” and “put children at risk for permanent damage.”

This is not the first time Musk has expressed anti-trans comments in the media. A while back, he announced that the terms “cis” or “cisgender” would be identified as “slurs” on X, and according to Wall Street Journal, Musk also funds $45 million every month to support former president Donald Trump.

Elon Musk has a trans daughter who has cut all ties with him after he blamed her school for instilling the “woke mind virus.”  He also said she went “beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil.”

There has been discussion about the relocation, possibly due to the state of Texas having no individual state income tax, especially considering that Musk himself has actually moved from California to Texas as well. In addition, Tesla’s headquarters moved to Texas in 2021, so perhaps his constant relocations to Texas are to take advantage of the state’s business tax laws. Tesla has faced numerous accusations of violating illegal labor laws, so the change may not be all politically motivated.
