Denver’s Queer Halloween: The Parties, Contests, and Tips

Thing’s are getting pretty spooky around Denver. With one of the best haunted houses in the nation — The 13th Floor — a new moon rising on Saturday, and numerous house parties, it can be pretty difficult to figure out what to do on the second scariest weekend of the year, see Black Friday

You and I both know that the queers here in Denver love a good party, and they know how to throw one. Let us help you narrow your plans down with this inclusive list of LGBT bars and their plans to scare the panties off of you and keep you dancing.

Blush & Blu 
FreakShow Friday
October 28 | 8pm | $5 cover | Drink Specials

Gather your friends, and get out to Blush & Blu’s FreakShow Friday. Complete with magician Chainsmoker the Magnificent and The Amazing Miss Coffin Nails, the self proclaimed magician, strongwoman, Rubik’s Cube speedsolver, and human blockhead with mystifying sideshow talents, and more, things are bound to get a little weird. Scoot over and get ready to be wowed.

Hocus Pocus Halloween

Let the mesmerizing dancers at Boyztown put a spell on you as they pay tribute to one of the best Halloween movies of all time, Hocus Pocus. A costume contest will honor those worthy enough to join the Sanderson sisters in their journey to suck the souls out of all the children of Denver. First place walks away with $500, second place gets $150 and $100 bar tab, third gets a puny $100 bar tab. Come correct or become the next Billy Butcherson.

Bonus points if you bring a virgin to light the black candle …

But we encourage you to get as creative as possible to try and snatch the contest prize from Charlie’s cold, dead grip. Let all 50 shades of your grey show on Sunday with some of Denver’s best queens. Come dressed down and snatch the costume contest.

Discotheque Halloween Bash
October 29 | 7 pm

Tracks is heading straight to hell, but with really, really good company. Join the iconic Nina Flowers as she welcomes fellow Drag Race alumni Bob the Drag Queen, Naomi Smalls, and Tatianna to the Drag Nation stage. Trust us, this lineup of phenomenal queens will have you burning up. Get it?

The Inferno
October 29 | 9pm

Continue through the nine circles of hell and experience the Inferno as Tracks transforms the entire venue —including EXDO — into a menagerie of hellish sights complete with projection mapping, holograms, and a sound and light show like no other. Featuring special guest DJ Mike Cruz in the EXDO event center, while Sean O’Grady and Jordan P. keep you dancing in Tracks’ main bar. First place in the costume contest will walk out of the pits with $2,000.

The Chamber
October 31 | 9pm

Travel through Hell and reach the final level on Halloween night as you enter The Chamber complete with visions of despair. Yes, you will be scared. Yes, you will have fun. Yes, you will be turned on. Featuring a costume contest with a $500 cash prize, DJ Markie will be spinning all night long.

You better Werk your way over to Trade on Saturday night to see the iconic Delta Werk. Oh yeah, it’s also housing one of the best queer parties in the city, Blow Pony. Gather the Heathers and show the boogers how it is really done.
