After a two-year hiatus of the in-person Denver Pride celebration at Civic Center Park, The Center on Colfax announces “Together with Pride,” an in-person PrideFest gathering taking place June 25-26. It is expected that the annual event and two-day celebration could draw more than 500,000 people to Denver’s Civic Center Park.
PrideFest will host in-person activities, such as a 5K race, live performances, and a colorful parade that will travel from Cheesman Park to downtown Denver. The celebration has drawn more than 525,000 people in the past, which makes the celebration the largest Pride event in the Rocky Mountain Region, according to The Center on Colfax.
“We are thrilled to be back together in person, connecting with our diverse community and celebrating our heritage and culture,” The Center CEO Rex Fuller says in a press release.
The two-day festivities will include:
The Denver Pride 5K
Presented by Smartwool, participants will run, walk, roll, or sashay starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. The race will raise funds to go toward different Colorado organizations that support the LGBTQ community. The website to register provides more details about the race, like race registration procedures, a map for parking, and other tools people may need to prepare for the race ahead of time.
Coors Light Pride Parade
Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, the famed Denver Pride parade spans 14 blocks of Colfax Avenue, from Cheesman Park to Civic Center, featuring hundreds of floats, music, and marchers.
PrideFest will also include over 250 exhibitors, and plenty of food and beverage vendors, all weekend.
The Denver Pride website also includes a list of rules people need to follow in order to attend the events, such as no coolers and outside alcohol allowed, no marijuana use allowed in the park, and no glass containers including water bottles.
While the last two years without an in-person Pride gathering for the Denver, and Colorado, queer community was surely rough, we made it to the other side and can’t wait to see our queer fam face-to-face this June!
