Denver LGBTQ Community Honors Corky Blankenship

A memorial service was held Friday, February 26, for Denver LGBTQ elder Corky Blankenship.  Members of the community, as well as many involved with Feeding Denver’s Hungry alongside Blankenship, gathered together to celebrate and remember the longtime activist, both virtually and in-person.  His celebration of life included videos from the community and speeches from those who’s lives were directly impacted by his love and compassion.

The celebration featured moving virtual performances by Lani Lecher, LaLa J. Shearz, and others, as well as live performances by Markie Arendelle, Zeus De’vereaux, Krystal Towers, Corky’s grandson Kruza Kid, and many more. Many hold on closely to the mantra which Blankenship was known to say: “Live life to the fullest, and keep on dancing.”
