Da Brat, the hip-hop star, and her fiancée Jesseca “Judy” Dupart, announced on January 31, through an Instagram post that they are expecting their first baby. “We are EXTENDING the family” Brat and Dupart wrote in the caption of a share post with a pregnant emoji.
The couple shared pictures of the two of them facing a mirror with Brat’s arms wrapped around her partner’s waist, forming a heart shape with her hands.
Brat, 47, came out publicly on March 25, 2020 confirming her relationship with Dupart, 39, beauty mogul and CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, via an Instagram post celebrating an early birthday gift, but the announcement wasn’t planned.
“Jesseca was showing me some pictures and we were going back and forth, joking ‘I’ll post it,’ ‘No, I’ll post it.’ So when she did, I was like, ‘Oh s—! I just came out after 20-something years!’ But it feels good to share with the world when you’re happy.” Brat said toVariety.
“I was fine staying quiet, but my partner is a social media mogul—that’s how she became who she is. And when you get with somebody, you have to meet in the middle. So to me, the middle was just letting everybody know: ‘Hey, she’s the one.’” Brat said.
Dupart has three children from previous relationships, but this is her first baby with Brat. The couple got engaged in September 2021 in a Coming To America-themed surprise party and they will wed on February 2, according to Brat’s tattoo of their wedding date shared on Instagram.
Even though the couple has not yet revealed the sex of their baby, back in 2020, Brat said that she already knows what she would like to name her future daughter.
“My child will have all my names, honey,” Brat said while hosting Dish Nation. “Her name would be Legacy Shawntae Dupart. Shawntae is my first name, and Dupart is my baby’s last name. Yes honey, carry on the legacy of your parents, darling.”
