Bob the Drag Queen Drops New TikTok Bop ‘Bitch Like Me’

Let’s be real. You ain’t never met a bitch like Bob the Drag Queen!
“Bitch Like Me” is the newest single and musical video from RuPaul’s Drag Race champion Bob the Drag Queen, the alter ego of nonbinary actor, comedian, and musician Caldwell Tidicue. Drawing from a long history of drag anthems, “Bitch Like Me” is unapologetically queer and full of drag, rap, and energy.
It is also the debut track from Bob’s upcoming EP.
“‘Bitch Like Me’ isn’t the first song that I wrote, but the EP is very silly while also being very serious and I felt like ‘Bitch Like Me’ was a perfect mesh of the two,” they say.
The video itself draws inspiration from Bob’s popular “interrupting” series, with seamless TikTok transitions. Collaborating with producer/songwriter Ocean Kelly, songwriter Christopher Caldwell, and director Assaad Yacoub to realize their vision, the video was shot on iPhone and pays homage to this new art form.
“I really genuinely just love TikTok,” Bob says. “Even if I had no followers, I’d still probably spend a lot of time on there scrolling and double tapping. I remember Googling if there was a ‘vertical music video’ or a ‘TikTok music video,’ and I hadn’t seen one yet. I just thought, ‘where you see a void, you fill it’.
Bob continues by saying the single goes a lot harder than other things they have done before.
“I think when I was on Drag Race, I was trying to be mindful of the audience and image that comes with the show,” they explain. “But I think that over time, I’ve finally curated an audience and fans that really like and appreciate me for me, which makes me feel more comfortable.”
Since winning Drag Race, Bob has gone to have a successful music career with their most popular song, “Purse First” hitting 3.4 million views on YouTube. Most recently they star in HBO’s Emmy-nominated show We’re Here, where Bob and fellow drag queens Eureka O’Hara and Shangela recruit local residents to participate in one-night-only drag shows and inspiring their “drag kids” to express their genuine selves in front of their families, friends, and communities. We’re Here was renewed for Season 3, which will air on HBO this Fall.
Additionally, Bob co-hosts the hit podcast Sibling Rivalry with their drag sister Monét X Change. The podcast is currently touring live.
