Billie Eilish’s New Video is for the Girls and the Gays

Billie Eilish's New Video

Billie Eilish’s new video is a queer woman’s dream. I would sell my soul, give up high-waisted jeans, and never wear winged eyeliner again just to experience being on that set. That’s how serious I am.

Eilish’s self-directed music video for her latest song “Lost Cause,” dropped June 2, blowing the minds of gender-diverse, queer youths and diehard sapphics everywhere. Her usual, chilling cinematography is swapped for the ultimate girls’ night slumber party, complete with matching lounge outfits and plenty of goofy ass shaking. There are snacks; there are Silly String battles, there are lots of gorgeous women rolling around on a bed together … what else could a young queer ask for!?

Naturally, the gays flocked to Twitter to celebrate. One user couldn’t hide their excitement, writing “BILLIE EILISH [RELEASING] LOST CAUSE IN JUNE SHE DID THIS FOR US GAYS.”

Billie fans have spent every minute since the video’s release pouring over each shot of the sultry, gal-pal anthem. Some eagle-eyed viewers might’ve noticed the board Billie and her friends lob darts at has one, large word written across the target: MEN. I even saw an article rating every food Eilish and her friends giddily munched on in between Twister games and twerk-offs (though I have to vehemently disagree with their Tostitos Scoops score. 10/10, no question.)

Eilish has teasingly released songs over the past few months that will be featured on her highly anticipated album Happier Than Ever, coming July 30 of this year. She wrote in an Instagram post announcing the album, saying: “this is my favorite thing i’ve ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. i can’t even tell you. i’ve never felt so much love for a project than i do for this one. hope you feel what i feel.”
