Benchmark Theatre’s Upcoming World Premiere of Stonewall
The Benchmark Theatre has announced its world premiere production, Stonewall, set to premiere next week. “Casualties” is the theme for the theater’s 2023 season, and Stonewall will be the second production this season, and the sixth active season since the theatre was formed in 2016. The show is set to debut on June 9 and is scheduled to perform at Benchmark’s home theater at 1560 Teller St. Lakewood, CO 80214.
The show is being directed by Benchmark Theatre’s Artistic Director Neil Truglio alongside the creative and production team, which includes Chantelle Frazier as the costume designer and Haley Johnson as the executive director and producer. As for scenery, lights, and sound for the production, the Benchmark Theatre will be designing all of its own.
Stonewall, according to the official show description, is a description of actual events: “The true story of the 1969 New York City riots that sparked a nationwide fight for LGBTQ rights, this docudrama retells the events that led to the six-day uprising, as well as the long journey to where we are today.”
Running from June 9 to July 1, Stonewall will begin showing at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday evenings, 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoons, and at a special industry night performance on Monday, June 26, at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $30; senior/student tickets will be $25, and industry night tickets will be $20. Parents should take note that adult content and language are used throughout the show, and no children under the age of 12 will be permitted.
Stonewall will have the largest cast in Benchmark history to appear on stage and will include actors Grant Bowman, Andrew Catterall, Alex Duty, Hayley Emerson, Corey Exline, Danté J. Finley, B. Ryan Glick, Andrew Hensel, Verl Hite, Andrew Horn, Cayla Izmirian, Corinne Landy, Frankie Lee, Alicia Millerson, Paola Miranda, Dan O’Neill, Liyah Patrick, Caden Pazzo, Barbara Porreca, Andy Ray, Caleb Ready, Chloe Ryan, Ben Stasny, and Johnathan Underwood.
