Back to Jail? Kim Davis Replaces Same-Sex Marriage Forms with Scrubbed Version

Reports are coming down the pipeline that Kim Davis may have just violated a Kentucky judge’s orders to clear the path for same-sex couples wanting to marry in Rowan County.
Per a statement filed via Brian Mason’s attorney, Ms. Davis replaced marriage-license paperwork earlier this week with a mockup of her own. (Brian Mason is the gentleman from the same office who’s issuing the licenses because Ms. Davis refuses to.)
“On September 14, 2015 Ms. Davis came into their office and [Brian Mason] tells me the following: Kim Davis came to the office and confiscated all the original forms, and provided a changed form which deletes all mentions of the County, fills in one of the blanks that would otherwise be the County with the Court’s styling, deletes her name, deletes all of the deputy clerk references, and in place of deputy clerk types in the name of Brian Mason, and has him initial rather than sign. There is now a notarization beside his initials in place of where otherwise signatures would be.”
As this just happened, the jury’s still out on whether this is in violation of the court’s orders. These changes could potentially constitute interference, but the only one who can drop that particular gavel and remand her is the judge in the case, Judge Bunning. Stay tuned for updates as they come.
