Move out of the way Michael Phelps and Carl Lewis because this stunning, openly bisexual, devoted, and astonishingly talented Dutch speed skater Ireen Wüst continues her victorious winning streak by striking gold in the 1,500-meter speed skating race at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Wüst seduces onlookers with amazement as she makes earth shattering history by becoming the first athlete to win gold medals in five straight Olympics. Wüst (Netherlands) finished her final winning race with an impressive record of 1 minute and 53.28 seconds for first place. Takagi Miho (Japan): 1:53.72 came in second, and Antoinette de Jong (Netherlands): 1:54.82 marks third place.
When reporters caught up with this force, she had this to say about her performance so far:
“An Olympic record on this track is amazing,” she says. “The time is really fast. I was really proud already of myself that I did my best 1,500 in the biggest moment.”
Wüst wasn’t finished with all her sets, so she was somewhat contained and provided a modest response on her current feelings, “It’s nerve-wracking,” Wüst says.
But, as expected, nerves didn’t stop this phenomenal woman. Wüst performed for her life before the world and ignited the rink with her veracious fire, reminding anyone in doubt that she is in fact a powerhouse.
Wüst explains, “It’s really hard to describe,” when she was was quoted after the event by Yahoo. “A lot of emotions, especially the good ones. I don’t realize it yet. It’s insane, actually.” Wüst has been a long standing celebrated speed skater within the Winter Olympic history since 2006, when she made her debut win at the Turin Games and has accumulated a dozen of medals since. (six gold).
With an undeniably incredible career, what exactly is the driving force for Wüst? I don’t know what it is,” Wüst says. “I just see the rings and something magical happens.” Sadly, Wüst confirmed that Beijing will be her last Olympics because she intends to retire and marry her girlfriend, Letitia de Jong.
“I always say age is just a number,” Wüst reported to the New York Times. “But I’m 35, and I really want to have children, so at some point you have to quit.”
