Nationwide Discrimination and Attacks on Trans Americans Spike

While LGBTQ awareness and acceptance have settled in nicely and found somewhat of a place within American society, there are inevitably going to be setbacks, manifesting here with anti-LGBTQ legislative attacks climbing in commonality. This comes as no surprise to any member of the community, seasoned or otherwise.
And LGBTQ support has climbed to meet it. According to them, GLAAD reports that embracing LGBTQ communities and people is more and more common than ever, only growing further. In fact, 81 percent of non-LGBTQ respondents are of the belief that trans and nonbinary people are only going to be more and more accepted by the country at large.
However, it’s unfortunately no secret that there are plenty of people who detract the LGBTQ community. A core foundation of the movement is changing what is unacceptable out of respect for unspoken and oppressed groups, which can run directly opposite to the American dream, as well as contradict what many previous generations were taught growing up, a message of ignorance.
GLAAD also reports that 47 percent of non-LGBTQ respondents called trans and nonbinary people “unfamiliar.” This sentiment has carried over one-to-one in American legislation, which has its panties in a bunch trying to brainstorm new ways to oppress anyone who is different.
Further, these bills pose a risk to the LGBTQ youth in attempts to restrict LGBTQ lessons in school, including vital historical LGBTQ lessons and other serious topics put n school to prevent any further generations of closed-minded people.
Ten prominent states guilty of passing anti-trans or anti-LGBTQ laws so far are Alabama, Idaho, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. Arkansas was scraping to pass another of these laws, denying gender-affirming care to minors, however the supreme court blocked it.
It seems as the rise in acceptance grows, so too does the rise of discomfort, and the inevitable pushing back. Everyone has a part to play in spreading this message of acceptance and open mindedness.
