Deezer Launches its First Pride Livestream Festival

Deezer

Deezer, a music streaming company, announced the launch of its first Deezer Pride Livestream Festival on June 26. A six-hour event, full of concerts and celebrations that can be viewed from home, is available for viewing on Deezer’s Youtube page. Big Freedia, Kany García, Bright Light Bright Light, and Valentina (RuPaul’s Drag Race) are some of the stars from the LGBTQIA+ community that participated.

Deezer felt that for Pride Month, it was time to “raise the volume and admire the colors of the rainbow.” As a way to continue to celebrate while many stuck at home, Deezer put together a series of music performances, artist interviews, and panel discussions aimed at raising awareness and celebrating how far the queer community has come along.

The bilingual, digital concert is the first of its kind for Deezer and features a star-studded roster of U.S. and Latin American artists. The digital event showcased that music and talent have no gender or color.

Some of the Latin-American musical acts who participated from within the LGBTQIA+ community are Raymix (Mexico), Esteman (Colombian), Kany García (Puerto Rico), and Javiera Mena (Chile).

During the event, Deezer also premiered their ‘Pass the Flag’  video, a collaboration with more than 40 music artists from all around the world who pass the LGBTQIA+ flag and positive messages to each other

“For Deezer, it is important to celebrate artist’s talents without any discrimination or prejudice. With this event, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusion, helping our artists to spread their messages of tolerance and respect. We are a company with a colorful logo, such as the LGBTQIA + flag, because we offer diversity and original content suited for all. We want music to help all people feel represented and proud to be who they are,” said Deborah Jourdan, Head of North and Central America at Deezer.

“Music is an important part of the LGBTQIA + Pride Month celebration and a fantastic way to raise awareness; we will have great artists and experts who will generate recognition and conversations about the community and the need to eradicate any type of exclusion in general,” she added.

In addition to our Pride Livestream Festival, Deezer has also launched a channel dedicated to LGBTQIA+ Pride called ‘Pride, available until the end of July. ‘Deezer Pride Livestream Festival’ is the first bilingual initiative of its kind for Deezer, and it comes after successfully launching the digital concert series “‘Vallenato en Casa” in Colombia this past April.
