Ignite Theatre brings ‘Heathers: The Musical’ to Aurora

If you haven’t seen the cult classic, 1988 film Heathers stop what you are doing immediately, grab a bag of Twizzlers, glue yourself to the couch, and get ready for a whole slew of one liners from Winona Ryder. Seriously, you need to see this film.

The description is:

Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behavior. When Veronica and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. Soon Veronica realizes that J.D. is intentionally killing students he does not like. She races to stop J.D. while also clashing with the clique’s new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty).

What is better than a bunch of popular high school students offing each other? A musical. Heathers the Musical, is a reimagining of the film that stole so many hearts and laughs, complete with song and dance. And we couldn’t be more excited.

Heathers: The Musical is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.
