What we know about Paris
At least 129 people have been killed in seven different attacks across Paris, including 82 during a hostage situation at Bataclan, a music venue. The attacks were carried out by at least eight militants, all wearing suicide vests. More than 350 people have been injured in addition to the deaths.
Two explosions were heard near the Stade de France, around 8:30 pm UK time. There were three suicide attacks near the venue. At least three terrorists took more than 100 people hostage at a music venue, Bataclan, where a concert was being held, before they began randomly killing at least 89. They reloaded their weapons at least three times during the attack. Two attackers detonated explosive vests during a police assault on the venue, while a third was shot by officers. There were also several attacks at bars and restaurants throughout the city.
It is unknown who is behind the attacks, but the attackers are believed to have been dressed in black and used Kalashnikovs and hand grenades. According to the Greek Public Order Minister Dimitris Toskas, one attacker found at the Stade de France was found with a Syrian passport.
Paris prosecutor, Francois Molins, said Saturday afternoon that three “terrorist teams” were involved in the attacks, and French channel BFMTV, reported gunmen at Bataclan shouted, “it’s for Syria” and “Allahu Akbar”.
The Paris president has declared a state of emergency in the whole of France – the first time since 1958 – and imposed border control.
