The Front highlights queers in the deep South

Media startup The Front released their first trailer for a new series “New Deep South” highlighting the vibrant and multifaceted queer culture that is emerging in the American South. First stop: Jackson, Mississippi.

Playing against stereotypes, the series will follow the lives of queer youth to explore the tangled and complex nature of sexual identity in the Jackson.

The trailer has us wanting more. Even with such a short trailer, these characters already intrigue us. It’s easy for us to forget that life outside of the Mountain Range is vastly different, and “New Deep South” is showing us just how unalike, yet similar, our lives are.
