Stranger Danger: The Grindr Edition

When you login to Grindr, and set up a meeting with that sexy dude … how much do you actually know about him? Not a whole lot. You probably know he’s attractive. You probably know he’s a top to your bottom, or a bottom to your top. And at some point he maybe disclosed his status and name … if those are even accurate.

The whole thing can be a bit scary, if you really think about it. And a recently, Shane Dunn, a British man was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a vicious attack on a man he met on Grindr.

The 25-year-old, was found guilty of slashing the throat of Ian Garrod, 55, and then leaving him to die in his apartment in Kent.

MAIN-Shane-DunnLast September, Dunn brought crystal meth for them both to take before sex. At one point during the sexual rendezvous, Dunn said he was going to the kitchen for a glass of water but, instead, returned to the bedroom with a kitchen knife and cutting Garrod’s throat.

He then stood and watched him bleed before pretending to call an ambulance. Luckily, a roommate found the victim in a pool of his own blood the next day, and was able to get him the help he needed to survive.

Crazy, right?! This isn’t the first time this kind of thing has happened. Similar situations have happened in Philadelphia, and Seattle, too. And yes, we may live in “Colorful Colorado,” but that doesn’t mean we don’t have crazies in our state, too. Remember the woman who stole the unborn baby? Yeah. Crazy.

The point being … be safe when apping and tapping. If the situation feels weird, be smart and get out. No sex is worth losing you life.

And on that note. I’m out.
