Lea T — Givenchy model, muse, & transwoman — goes global with Redken

Here’s another one for the books.
Brazilian model Lea T is now the first transgender model to front an international cosmetics campaign.
In January, the gorgeous and glam new icon becomes the face of Redken — more specifically for the hair-care juggernaut’s new line, “Chromatics.”
But she’s not exactly a veteran to the trans scene. It was only in 2010 that Givenchy Head Designer Riccardo Tisci struck up a friendship with Lea and implored her to explore her more feminine side. Lea told French Vogue:
“One night he encouraged me to wear pumps to a party. We went shopping for ‘drag queen’ shoes and we bleached my eyebrows. It was a revelation.”

She went on to become Tisci’s muse, and modeled extensively for Givenchy campaigns. Her new role with Redken, however, will bring her visage and story to new heights.
So when you see her face (and those locks, omg!) splashed across mags and salon ads across the globe, you can give her an internal high-five for reppin’ the community on the global glam tip.
