Everything’s Coming Up Broadway
By Bobby Crew
Looking for something to do this weekend? Come with me to hear classic hits from all your Broadway favorites. Everything’s Coming up Broadway brings together the Rocky Mountain Arts association, including the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and Denver Women’s Chorus, as well as the incredible musicians from the Colorado Symphony.
“It’s going to be a blast, there is so much energy here,” says Anthony Pierce, VP of innovative programming for Colorado Symphony. “I’m excited to see the choruses with the orchestra. It’s been several years since we have played with the Denver Gay men’s Chorus, and we have never played with the Women’s Chorus. We have built an awesome show of Broadway highlights, there is a lot of fun stuff that is going to happen here on this program. There is something here for everyone.”
They’ll be performing favorites like Memory, from Cats, Defying Gravity, from Wicked, and my personal favorite, Music in the Night, from Phantom of the Opera. The repertoire isn’t just limited to hits from the past few decades but also includes classic hits from Anything Goes, to Guys and Dolls, Cabaret, and many more.
“We have some dynamite soloists,” Tony says. “Three big soloist from New York are here who are Broadway stars.” The vocalists include Susan Egan, Doug LaBrecque and Debbie Gravitte.
The show is sponsored by Arrow Electronics. “Arrow is one of our largest corporate sponsors,” Tony tells out front. “Arrow Electronics is a big contributor to this community. They really support entities like the Colorado Symphony, to help us do what all we do and helps us provide the opportunities to the choruses and the orchestra. It’s a big community event.”
Everything’s Coming up Broadway will only be performed twice, at the Boettcher Concert Hall on Saturday Sep. 27th at 7:30 PM and again Sunday the 28th at 1:00 PM. So Broadway fans, get your tickets now at Coloradosymphony.org
