White House Lies About Gender-Affirming Care in New Post

White House lies

The White House website has posted misleading information and lies about gender-affirming care in a continued attack by the Tump administration toward transgender minors. As reported by The Advocate, the post went up Monday describing gender-affirming care as “chemical and surgical mutilation” and “immoral, unjust, and disproven practices.”

The post highlights Trump’s executive order calling for a cease of “funding, sponsoring, assisting, or facilitating” gender-affirming care. The post continues saying, “These standards were not drafted based on scientific evidence, but on political considerations.”

This information is completely false as gender-affirming care is backed by scientific evidence and every major medical group including the American Medical Association.

Protect Trans Kids

Continuing the misleading information, the post claims that Rachel Levin, Assistant Secretary for Health in President Joe Biden’s administration, published a federal guidance for gender-affirming care that promoted “chemical sterilization and surgical mutilation of minors.”

Gender-affirming care for minors typically consists of puberty blockers and hormones. The effects of puberty blockers are reversible and do not cause sterilization, and most effects of cross-sex hormones are similar.

The post says that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have “alerted providers to the dangers of chemical mutilation as well as the lack of medical evidence supporting their use.” This is also misleading, since medical evidence supports gender-affirming care. The post states that the HHS has focused a study to develop practices to treat minors “who have asserted gender dysphoria,” despite best practices already supporting the use of puberty blockers and hormones.

The post threatens legal actions against care providers while claiming to prioritize “protection against female genital mutilation” by assigning “State Attorneys General to coordinate enforcement.” It goes on to say that “It has also initiated investigations of multiple entities that have misled the public about the long-term side effects of chemical and surgical mutilation under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.”
