Matt Walsh Defends Racist Jokes at Trump Rally

Matt Walsh came to Donald Trump’s defense after racist jokes made at one of his rallies. At his rally in Madison Square Garden, Trump invited comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to perform. His boring jokes were entirely based on racist stereotypes, calling Puerto Rico an “island of floating garbage,” Palestinians “rock throwers,” and saying how Jewish people hate to spend money. His jokes are tired, and we’ve all heard them before from someone trying out the worst comedy routine you’ve ever heard.

Walsh, known anti-trans and right-wing podcaster, snapped back at the people complaining about the jokes, saying they’re all “whiny little babies” whose opinions don’t matter. Like a child, he defends the jokes, saying that these are the type of jokes normal people tell, and those that don’t like them are abnormal and should be ridiculed. He states, “Everyone would think that’s how I talk, and that’s how my friends talk,” then defending Trump and his appeal because he speaks how “everyone” does. Trump’s campaign team did notably distance the former president from the jokes made about Puerto Rico, stating they do not reflect his view.

Walsh is well-known for his anti-trans rhetoric and ravings on X, formerly Twitter. He also has likened raising a gay child to cutting an arm off or human trafficking. Clearly, he is not the model for good humor. He also has made statements making light of the age of consent and rape, stating that the victims of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, an alleged child rapist, should have been able to defend themselves.

He’s al-around a nasty person, and his views and videos reflect that. To take comedy advice from him seriously is inane, and his defense of the stereotypical jokes reflect someone scared of diversity, which he has advocated against in the Republican National Convention.
