Trans Artist Matty Marz Releases New Single “EPILL”

Matty Marz is redefining the world of pop music alongside a new generation of young trans women. Bringing vulnerability and honesty into her music, Marz just released the catchy and club-ready new single “EPILL.”

Marz is a New York-based singer, songwriter, and producer known for her bold lyricism, wide-ranging genre influences, and experimental instrumentations. “EPILL,” produced by Akira Akira (Mad Decent) is a fun one. Inspired by the gothic undertones of the late-90’s electronic movement, this track combines these darker ‘90’s aspects with 2000’s pop sounds into an exploration of gender euphoria.

Matty is using her years of musical experience to push boundaries and transport pop music to new heights. She has roots in classical music, trained and well-rounded in vocals and composition. She recently graduated from Los Angeles Academy for Artists & Music Production (LAAAMP). Her extensive musical background has even planted the seeds for a blooming genre referred to as “New Glam.”

Her outspoken, unapologetic tracks like “#2” muse over many shared personal issues found in the queer community. This gritty pop song touches on ideas of being under-appreciated. Her single “m.w.u” speaks of self-reflection and independence.  Her songs are all rich with meaning. “‘EPILL’ was a song I always wanted to make but didn’t know how to articulate until its conception,” she says. It’s a dark and seductive mid-ecstasy hit electronic record that explores the highs and lows of a trip.”

Matty expects to release her debut album, m.w.u within the next year. The album is inspired by artists like Ethel Cain, Charli XCX, Bjork, and Infected Mushroom.M.w.u is a story of euphoria and release. Touching on a wide-range of genres like industrial, electronic, drum ‘n’ bass, and trap, Matty has created a diverse and immersive project to wow listeners and transport them into a different plane of consciousness,” the press release explains  Lots of exciting things are in store in both Matty’s future and the future of trans-inclusive, trans-conscious pop music.
