Chrissy Chlapecka Releases New Song and Video “Brat” With Drag Queens Sugar and Spice
Chrissy Chlapecka, the queen on Tiktok who is retaking the word “bimbo,” has released the slayest music video for her song “Brat,” featuring fabulous drag queens Sugar and Spice.
“It’s campy, it’s fun. It’s a 90s makeover montage, which is the most iconic part of every 90s or 2000s movie! Sugar and Spice basically Bratzify me,” Chalpecka tells Rolling Stone.
In the video, Chlapecka undergoes a “bad bitch” transformation from a timid, “plain-Jane” girl and through the help of her friends Sugar and Spice, turns into this powerful woman who is confident and sexy. “It’s about becoming a little bratty bitch and stepping into your anger and rightful emotions,” Chlapecka shared.
“Growing up I was so conditioned to not feel things and always put that smile on and literally be a plastic doll,” Chlapecka says. “In ‘Brat,’ it shows that difference in how much cooler I became after the people around me hype me up.”
She shares that she “was inspired by a not-so-wonderful experience I went through the night before and the things I wish I said when I was assaulted.” The power she didn’t have then but has now is infectious among fans, as Chlapecka continues to use her platform to empower women and queer folks alike.
The video features stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race, Sugar and Spice, who are some of Chlapecka’s close friends. She first met the twins during their performance at the legendary queer bar Roscoe’s in Chicago, where Chlapecka lived. They bonded over their confidence and love for BimboTok and have been friends ever since. “Once I moved to LA, they instantly took me under their wing,” she says. “They really made sure I didn’t feel lonely coming here, which was so sweet.”
“Brat” is not Chlapecka’s first single; she released “I’m So Hot” and “Head Bitch” earlier this year, which you can find on Spotify or Apple Music.
