46-year-old trans woman begins new life as 6-year-old girl
Stefonknee (pronounced Stephanie) Wolschtt, 46, says she does not “want to be an adult right now.”
The -46-year-old trans woman has walked away from her former life – including a wife and seven kids – for a new life as a six-year-old girl, complete with adoptive “parents” and an older “sister.”
When Stefonknee stopped living in the closet, and came out as a trans woman, her former wife told Stefonkneeeto “stop being trans or leave,” she told The Transgender Report, an online collection of profiles designed to record, share and celebrate the personal stories of transgender women and men from across Canada.
“To me, ’stop being trans’ isn’t something I could do,” Stefonknee explains. “It would be like telling me to stop being 6’2? or leave.”
Now she lives as a woman, or girl, full time and helps those who are discovering themselves, letting them try on the dresses from her closet. She lives with a new family, who treat them as their six-year-old daughter. At least one of the couple’s biological grandchildren acts as her “big sister,” although the child is only seven years old.
“Their children and grandchildren are totally supportive,” Stefonknee says. “In fact, her youngest granddaughter… a year ago, when I was 8, she was 7, and she said to me, ’I want you to be the little sister, so I’ll be 9? and I said ’Well, I don’t mind going to 6,’ so I’ve been 6 ever since.”
Stefonknee describes her new lifestyle as therapeutic. “We have a great time. We color. We do kids stuff. No medication. No suicidal thoughts. I just get to play.”
