Virginia man attacked Christmas night

Christmas joy was nowhere to be found in Virginia on Christmas night when a gay man was brutally attacked in his home, leaving his hands and fingers broken and four teeth knocked out.

Drew Inge of Yorktown was kicked in the head multiple times by an attacker in his home, who also verbally assaulted him and threatened his life. At one point, the man stabbed Inge in the eye with a broken shower rod, before he ran into his bedroom for safety.

“I was thrown into my bathtub, and stomped in the face and jaw over and over while being called a ’faggot,’” recounted Inge on Facebook. He said the man chased him into the bedroom and “tackled me from behind into my door and slammed my fingers on my right hand into the door, breaking them and ripping them open.”

Eventually breaking free, he called 911 and says the man, who remains unnamed, was arrested on various charges. But, the damage done to Inge may have a lasting consequence, as he uses his hands to make money. Inge is self-employed as a hairstylist, and his injuries may compromise his livelihood.

But, someone has started a YouCaring campaign to help Inge pay for his medical bills and rent while he is unable to work. So far, the campaign has raised more than $4,500, which is nearly half of the $10,000 goal.
